St. Giles Church
St Giles’ Church Camberwell stands on a site consecrated to Christian worship
for at least 900 years, maybe even longer.
There is a record in the Domesday book of the church existing in Camberwell.
Originally this was the Parish church serving a much larger area that included
the villages of Camberwell, Peckham and Dulwich. There are many ancient

Blanch's History
W H Blanch's fascinating History and Antiquities of the Parish of Camberwell was first published in 1875 and reprinted in 1976 for the Camberwell Society by Stephen Marks with some additional illustrations. It is also available on CD from Archive CD Books.
A less well known treasure trove is a 16 volume version, expanded by W F Noble with a variety of cuttings, documents and illustrations. This is held in the Lambeth Archive Department at the Minet Library in Knatchbull Road, SE5.
