Camberwell Area Management Team
We are a small team in Southwark Council and based within Camberwell. In anutshell, our aim is to help make Camberwell a better place - to live in andto work in.
We do this through learning about residents' needs and concerns and bringing the different agencies (including Southwark and Lambeth Councils, healthauthorities, employment and training services, voluntary and community groups) together to respond better to those needs. Key areas of our work include facilitating the Creative Camberwell Network (www.creativecamberwell.net), a network of artists, community organisations and businesses who want to promote Camberwell as a hub of creativity.
We also facilitate the Camberwell Travel Plan Group, a group of key localemployers (including Kings College Hospital, the Maudsley Hospital and theInstitute of Psychiatry) which aims to create a better environment around Camberwell Green junction by carrying out physical improvements and promoting walking and cycling.
We are currently preparing an Area Plan for Camberwell. Area Plans are being put together across the borough and their purpose is to reflect what local people want, in order to help the council and its partners realise local ambitions.
For us, the SE5 Forum is a key conduit for residents to let us know about their concerns about the area. We support Forum generally, and its setting up of Camberwell Business, the Forum's traders' sub-group. We want to work in partnership with the Forum towards our common goal of helping Camberwell thrive.
