Burgess Park Newsletter and a Chance to Have Your Say

Transforming Burgess Park

June 2010: There's still time to have your say on the future of Burgess Park and help us unlock the potential of our biggest green space. We've already had hundreds of comments and suggestions so make sure you have your say before the plans are finalised.

Have your say

Throughout July you can give us feedback on the latest plans and what work you think should be done first. We'll be holding some events where you can drop in and talk to someone about the plans:

  • 8, 10 and 11 July - walkabout and workshops
  • 20 July – public consultation event
  • 31 July – consultation feedback event, Chumleigh Gardens, all day drop in sessions

Times and locations for the events will be confirmed shortly and we will circulate when available.

You can also drop in to Chumleigh Gardens to see the plans for the park and leave your comments in the comment book there.

Alternatively you can look at the latest plans on our website and email comments to ruth.miller(at)remove-this.southwark.gov.uk. You can also see the feedback we've had on the plans so far and what changes have been suggested as a result.

Key updates

  • We are doing some site investigations to help with the park’s improvements. These include soil and groundwater quality, bird, bat and reptile surveys. For further information contact Jon Best, ecology officer on jon.best(at)remove-this.southwark.gov.uk.

  • We have started work on the new Chumleigh Gardens Cafe.

  • We are working on a management and maintenance plan for the park.

  • A youth panel has been created and is working with LDA design and Beyond Green to give input into the overall design of the park.

  • We will be submitting a planning application for the park by September so that work can start early next year.

  • We are also looking for a contractor to deliver work around Burgess Park.
  • The habitat survey is now available to view on our website. More information will be posted shortly.
