Art’s, a new exhibition space and bar opening at 25-A Camberwell Church Street (above the Funky Munky),
opening in March 2009
A hub for all form of creative expression; including art exhibitions, performance art, an acoustical open mic, comedy, poetry slams, independent film and other events. Founded by graduate of Camberwell College of Arts, Tracy Allen.
Art will be taking applications from creative people interested in having their works shown at Art’s (exhibition space is free).
We are currently open on Sunday afternoons for a Swap Shop from 3:00 – 7:00 PM. Swap shop items include local art, bric-a-brac, clothes, records, books, etc... anything goes. Come in and Swap your stuff or peruse current items for sale at obnoxiously low prices.
You can drop off donations too...all proceeds go to opening Art’s. Art has a wish list so, if you have items which no longer serve you, but are far too precious for the bin, we ask you to consider dropping them by. Art’s is boot strap entrepreneurism in motion. There is no operating budget for the opening of this venture. With very low overhead, the bar will run itself, but with no budget for purchasing items, we are asking members of the community to donate items they no longer need. The painting and refurbishing of the space has been donated by artists, musicians and volunteers living in the Camberwell area. Thank you everyone for you contributions!
Wish List:
Cushions, fabric, microphones, mic stands, canvas, paints, art supplies, folding chairs, coffee tables, small round tables, hot air popcorn machine, espresso machine, kettle, coffee mugs, wine glasses, bric a brac, lighting, karaoke machine, costumes or hideous clothing you would be ashamed to donate to your local charity shop. If you don’t want it, Art does!
...and most importantly, if you are an artist or performer interested in getting involved, or have any creative suggestions, do not hesitate to contact Tracy through this forum. User name: Arts or e-mail
